School Census 2026

School Census

 

The summer school pupil census will take place on Thursday 21 May 2026.

Schools will be able to complete and submit this census in SIMS7 OR in SIMS Next Gen. We would, however, encourage schools that are still going to carry out their census in SIMS7, to begin to familiarise themselves with the census in Next Gen.

 

Preparation and Completion guidance will be available to subscribing schools before this date.

 

​Census submission deadlines

 

The census should be carried out on Thursday 21 May 2026.

​

Submission deadlines for schools that have their data checked by their local authority.

​

Leicester City schools - 16:00 on Friday 22 May 2026.

 

Leicestershire County schools - Due to the half term break, please confirm the submission date with the LA contact.

 

Other schools/Academies responsible for their own submissions - Submit your returns to the deadlines set by your LA or your trust - the DfE deadline for the return to be uploaded and submitted is Wednesday 17 June 2026 - please check in school for your submission deadline as this may be before this date.
